Earlier this week the Castleford Tigers Women’s team held an open trial down at The Jungle ahead of their 2023 pre-season.

There was a brilliant turnout of both new and old faces, some of which have come through the Academy with the Tigresses. Head Coach Matty Faulkner was pleased with the turnout and outlined his reasons for hosting the evening.

“Obviously we hadn’t touched base with any of the girls since we were last in and some have been playing Winter League to keep themselves ticking over, so it was an opportunity to get them in, collect some data and hopefully see a few new faces.”

As well as the existing squad, there were a few new girls who took part on the night which allowed Matty to assess new options ahead of the new season.

“It’s always good to get new players in, they’ll have new skillsets that will hopefully add to the squad.”

Looking ahead to 2023, Faulkner has outlined his plans for the upcoming season.

“We’re looking to finish at the top end of the competition and and keep ourselves in the division we’re in whatever structure that may be.
