How to take part

The Tigers Talent Pathway ran during the October 2020 half-term, with sessions being led by Castleford Tigers’ Youth Performance staff and focusing on both fundamental game-related and technical skills, but with a ongoing national lockdown, this February’s session will be run online via Zoom.

The session will be free to access however particpants must register onto the TTP for 2020/21 via the link here to receive the an invite to the Zoom call.

About the TTP

The Tigers Talent Pathway is an important step on the wider Tigers Player Pathway and enables a route from under-12s to under-16s available, with the pathway supported by coaches from the local community game who will attend regular coaching workshops to ensure the best possible player development environment.

Since starting up in 2015 the programme has been attended by several current First Team players, who have since gone on to make their Super League debuts, including Lewis Peachey, and Sam Hall. The programme is also the first opportunity for promising young players to showcase their talents and attitudes towards coaching and development to the Castleford performance staff.

Head of Youth Performance Darren Higgins explains how the TTP can open career pathways to join to the Tigers, but also to emphasise the benefits that it offers both local players and their clubs.

It’s great to see the Tigers Talent Pathway relaunching again after a long enforced break, the programme underpins the club’s overall player pathway and has seen players who have attended the programme go onto play Super League rugby via our scholarship and academy programmes along with England youth representation.

The programme is open to all players from the local and surrounding areas and hopefully in-turn will benefit  the wider community game as a result of the coach development initiatives that local coaches working on the programme are able to access. Not only will the programme provide high quality player development provision for all players who attend but, it will also complement our talent identification work that will resume once the community game relaunches.
