Last night saw The Mend-A-Hose Jungle host the Castleford Tigers Foundation’s LDRL Team presentation night to celebrate the players’ incredible efforts over the year.
2021 saw the return of LDRL Festivals after an enforced break due to Covid and it has been fantastic to see all of the players back participating in the sport they love.
On a special occasion for everyone involved with Cas’ LDRL side, player Michael Corbett explained just how great it was to be at the awards night with his fellow teammates and stated how proud he is to represent the club.
“I’ve been with the team since it started, and it is really good to be able to be here with my friends to celebrate. They are all friends for life as well.
“I have really enjoyed being able to play again this year because playing with my friends means a lot to me. To be a Castleford Tigers player is great as well.”
Castleford Tigers LDRL Coach Carl Roberts also put forward just how pleasing it has been to see his team return to action and to be able to host a brilliant occasion for the players.
“It has been really good to have tonight because we haven’t been able to do it in the past couple of years. To get them all together again has been really good for us and the families.
“It’s been awesome to be able to see them back playing this year because when we started training again, you could see the smiles on their faces.”
Having the opportunity to play for the Tigers is always memorable for all of our teams and Carl added that it gives the LDRL side extra motivation to get out on the field.
“It’s the biggest part for them because they are representing the club that they support. When they go out in Cas colours, it’s like they are going out playing for the first team. That’s what motivates them to get down to training and we can’t wait for next year.”
